Blackbird comes from the story of a man being fed by ravens during the time of a famine. Every day the ravens would bring the man bread/meat to eat. The word raven actually means provision.

Tim Crozier
Tim's introduction to the surfboard industry in 1995 was rather divine. While surfing at the Ocean Beach pier his board was hit by another surfer. Turned out that surfer was also a shaper.
Having repaired the ding and returned the board, the shaper offered Tim a job at his shop. Beginning with laying tar-paper and ending with rough shaping, Tim gained experience in building surfboards. Tim has also worked in several glass shops, learning both poly & epoxy construction of surfboards.
In 1997, Tim followed his personal passion for building surfboards and Blackbird Surfboards was born.
Shapers that [have] influenced him include; Chris Ruddy, Ruben Garcia, Rich Pavel, Dan VanZanten, Chris Christenson, Al Merrick, Wayne Rich, and Dave Daum.
